In the latest season of the popular reality show, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” two campmates, YouTuber Nella Rose and restaurant critic Grace Dent, exited the show early on medical grounds.
During a recent bush tucker trial titled “Fishy Business,” Nella was paired up with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson. The trial required Sam to search through boxes containing various jungle critters to find tiles with answers while Nella read out the corresponding questions. Prior to the trial, Nella had admitted to Sam that she tends to get easily overwhelmed and asked him to remain calm and encouraging during the trial. However, barely minutes into the trial, Nella became visibly distressed by the spiders and enclosed spaces in the trial setup. Despite Sam’s efforts to reassure her, a panicked Nella cried out, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” bringing the trial to an abrupt end. The pair managed 10 out of 12 stars before Nella had to exit.

Following the botched trial, Nella was conspicuously subdued and downbeat, admitting to her campmates that she disliked both spiders and confined spaces. This prompted speculation among fans that the harrowing experience may have taken a toll on her mental health. Calls have mounted on social media for the show producers to be more considerate of campmates’ phobias and anxieties during planning of trials.
Meanwhile, Grace Dent, who has built a career critiquing dining establishments in her Guardian column, also had to bow out prematurely from the competition. She had struggled to fit in with camp life from the beginning, being squeamish about jungle critters and the outdoors. A spokesperson for ITV confirmed Dent’s departure from the jungle due to medical reasons, adding that she had been a great campmate and would be missed by viewers and her fellow celebrities alike.
Dent’s early exit from the show has been attributed to health reasons, but no further details were provided about her condition. During Sunday night’s episode, it was announced that radio DJ Chris Moyles would take part in the “Touchdown of Terror” trial alongside Babatúndé Aléshé instead of Dent.
The back-to-back exits of Nella Rose and Grace Dent over medical issues have been a massive loss for the show, leaving viewers disappointed. As two of the more compelling personalities among the campmates, their absence is likely to impact the show’s entertainment quotient. Fans have taken to social media to express disappointment over losing two campmates so early while simultaneously praising ITV’s decision to prioritize their health and well-being over the show.
While disappointment lingers over Nella and Grace’s premature exits, the show must go on for the remaining celebrities as they continue facing gut-wrenching trials and challenges. With viewer interest at a peak thanks to all the recent drama, all eyes will be on the campmates as they battle hunger, extreme conditions, and scary critters for the coveted title of “Jungle King” or “Jungle Queen.” One thing is for sure – ratings for this season of I’m a Celebrity are likely to go through the roof.
